W mieście Achalciche jest twierdza z XII wieku. No to poszedłem ją obejrzeć. Na pierwszy rzut oka wszystko gra. Mnóstwo zwiedzających. Architektura arabska. Jednak po chwili dociera do mnie, że coś tu nie gra. Wewnątrz wszystko jest zbyt świeże. Trochę Alhambra, trochę styl ottomański. Meczet bez minaretów. Zagadnięty przewodnik, wyjaśnia o co chodzi. Twierdza ucierpiała potężnie podczas wojny rosyjsko-tureckiej. W roku 1828 miasto zostało zdobyte przez Rosjan, a twierdza ucierpiała w związku z użyciem ciężkich dział. W latach 2011-2012 nastąpiła odbudowa kompleksu co miało przyciągnąć turystów i chyba się to udało. Jak dla mnie jest w tym wszystkim sporo fałszu.
In the town Achalciche there's a fortress from 12th century, so I went to see it. At first, everything seems to be ok. A lot of tourists. Arab architecture. After a while it strikes me that something is not quite right. Inside the fortress walls everything is too fresh and new. A bit of Alhambra style, a bit of ottoman empire. A mosque without minarets. I ask a tour guide and he explains the mystery. The castle was bombed heavily during Russian-Turkish war. The city was conquered in 1828 by the Russian troops. What we see now is the result of the extensive reconstruction that took place in the years 2011-2012. It was meant to attract more tourist and I think the goal was achieved. It's too fake for my taste though.
